Fresh therapy is the brainchild (and passion) of Alexandra Andrews.
Based in Nottingham, Alexandra has studied the use and effects of alternative therapies for over eight years, achieving qualifications allowing her to practice a wide range of treatments for both physical and spiritual ailments.
Under the tuition of the talented Jay Rossi, Alexandra began practising yoga in 1999 which lead to a whole new way of life, becoming very much more body and mind aware. Alexandra firmly believes that her experience through yoga has played a significant part in her personal development throughout these years culminating in the launch of her own venture.
At about the same time Alexandra embarked on the study of Astrology, a course which 4 years, and it too shone a different light on her world. Qualifying as a ‘Western Reflexologist’ in 2003, training with The International Institute of Reflexology, Alex completed a course which involved the in depth study of anatomy and physiology. from which she emerged as a registered member of the Association of Reflexologists.
At this point Alexandra decided to broaden her horizons, spending time travelling around Thailand and, after sampling many a massage and treatment, became fascinated by the culture and healing practices.
And so it was whilst travelling that the decision was made to train in the art of Thai Massage, with the aim of bringing the wonderful health benefits it provides back to England. Studying at the Superior Wat Po Traditional Medical School in Bangkok, Alexandra was soon to qualify in Thai Traditional Massage, Advanced Thai Medical Massage Therapy and Thai Reflexology (Eastern Reflexology).
Furthering her skills in “bodywork” Alex trained at the famous London Centre of Indian Champissage studying Indian Head Massage with the renowned practitioner Narendra Mehta. Alex decided to take things even further by studying Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology under Dr Neil Slade (also an excellent homeopath), at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London.
Alex is continuing her studies at this college, to become a Naturopath, and believes that this has already greatly assisted her in the work she does with her clients. Topics covered include Homeopathy, Herbal medicine, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory, Tissue salts, Bach Flower Remedies, toxicity and detoxification, nutrition, ear acupuncture and iridology, and the philosophy of Naturopathy.
The term Naturopath describes a practitioner who applies natural therapy, and has studied in the philosophy of Naturopathy. It is far more than fasting, nutrition, water and exercise.
Approved natural healing practices such as homeopathy, Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, as well as the use of techniques such as Colon Hydrotherapy are all included under this category. Using a range of alternative methods of diagnosis (tongue, nail, face and iridology) a practitioner can often successfully pinpoint a pre-disposition in the body, before the onset of acute disease, and treat the patient with specific therapies and changes in the patients living habits.
By learning about the effects of toxicity and detoxification on the body, Alex soon became aware of the, often, damaging effect that the products we use on our skin can have.
Now a qualified Esthetician, having completed an ITEC beauty therapy level III course at The Central College of Beauty, Nottingham Alex is blending everyday skin care with a holistic twist, using completely natural skin care products that work in complete harmony with the skin without adding to the toxic load of the body, but that achieve fantastic results.
Alexandra has a specialist interest in diet, nutrition and food allergy, after having to change her own diet and cut out particular foods for wellbeing, and achieved excellent results. Alexandra also has the belief that any system or therapy that she uses she has had personal experience of, so she can understand a persons journey on the road to recovery and a better, healthier life.
